MRO Industry
Traditionally, the marine MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) market has been driven primarily by cost competitiveness and shipyard location rather than advanced technological capabilities.
However, increasingly stringent global carbon regulations are placing greater restrictions on vessel operations and accelerating demand for the conversion, retrofit, and upgrade of existing vessels into high-value, environmentally friendly ships. This transition is driving structural growth in the MRO market while increasing the importance of advanced engineering and technical expertise.
In anticipation of these changes, KOSCO SD began developing its MRO capabilities at its Singapore shipyard in 2020 and has been actively engaged in MRO projects since 2023.
